Life Safety and Fire Safety Inspections Services

Our Team conducts on-site Life Safety surveys in accordance with The Joint Commission (TJC) hospital accreditations Standards. Our surveys will ensure you remain in compliance with the most current edition of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101) and its related references (e.g., NFPA 13, 25, 72, 80, and 99); and review the electronic Statement of Conditions (SOC), Basic Building Information (BBI) to assess the accuracy and update as necessary.

A typical survey may include an assessment of a select number of ‘above-the-ceiling’ areas for the proper installation of through-penetration protection in fire and smoke barrier walls, fire and smoke dampers, sprinkler installation, and spray-on fire protection. Existing drawings will be updated as necessary to include the appropriate occupancy classification(s); and location of fire barriers, smoke barriers, smoke compartments (types and sizes), suites (types and sizes), hazardous areas, trash/linen chutes, elevators, shafts, exits, and existing equivalencies.  The current occupancy classification(s) and construction type will be verified. Changes will be recomended if they result in savings to the client (e.g., by decommissioning unnecessary fire/smoke barriers and dampers; declassifying rooms as hazardous areas, etc.).  All findings will identify the location, finding type, applicable NFPA reference, recommended corrective action, and cost to repair.

Respirator Fit Test and Training

We can provide qualitative and quantitative fit testing to anyone required to wear a respirator on the job. A “fit test” confirms a seal between the respirator facepiece and your face. Our specialist can perform the appropriate fit testing and training in our office or at your location. Prior to fit testing, the employer must ensure an the employee is medically qualified to wear a respirator. Respirator fit testing is required to control any occupational diseases caused by breathing air contaminated with harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, mists, gases, smokes, sprays, or vapors.

Asbestos Physical

Asbestos Physical Exam includes:

  • Comprehensive Medical Exam, highlighting breathing health

  • Review of medical and work history

  • OSHA Respirator Medical Questionnaire

  • Chest X-Ray with B-reader

  • Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) with Blood Pressure

  • Any other necessary tests recommended by a physician

Required employees must have a physical exam annually, upon termination of employment, as well as any other exam required by exposure (e.g Lead, Silica, and other occupational hazards). In some cases, the examining physician may recommend that the employee get an exam more often than once a year.

Government Contracts

Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) like Design for Health are a part of a small community that make them a priority distributor to government agencies. Partnering with an SBA-certified small business can help guarantee your products are procurement ready. Together, government sales can become your most profitable division. By law, government agencies must assign a certain percentage of their purchases from SDVOSBs. Frequently government agencies post to federal set-aside contract opportunities that are only available to SDVOSBs. Choosing a SDVOSB as your Partner will provide you with exposure to the federal marketplace, guide your company through the contracting process, grow your sells with government agencies, and increase your odds of winning.

Design for health is always looking for opportunities to bring goods or services to our veterans. Design For health will search for contract opportunities, advise opportunities, and bid on your behalf. If you have ever considered working with government agencies and just have not had the opportunity, please contact Design for Health to discuss a partnership.
