40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) 


This 40-hour course is based upon the requirements of OSHA and Cal-OSHA. It is designed for the individuals that are involved with the cleanup of a hazardous waste site. The student learns specific engineering controls and techniques for handling hazardous materials. Training is accomplished through lectures, use of audiovisual aids, class discussion, and hands-on experience. This course requires a yearly refresher. Hazardous materials are not used during student practice.   Additional Topics Include:

HAZWOPER Refresher

This course is required yearly to maintain certification as a Hazardous Waste Operations Worker. The course is a review of important concepts presented in the Initial 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations Course. In addition, regulatory changes that have occurred or proposed changes currently before the state legislature or congress are addressed. State of the Art work practices are also discussed throughout the day. Training is accomplished through lectures, use of audiovisual aids, and class discussion.
